Catherine, Princess of Wales has announced her cancer is in remission.

In a statement posted to Instagram, she said “It is a relief to now be in remission and I remain focused on recovery.”

“My heartfelt thanks goes to all those who have quietly walked alongside William and me as we have navigated everything. We couldn’t have asked for more. The care and advice we have received throughout my time as a patient has been exceptional,” she wrote.

The princess announced last March that she had been diagnosed with cancer but has not disclosed what type of cancer she had. She explained at the time that she was undergoing “a course of preventative chemotherapy” as advised by her medical team, NBC News reported. She completed the treatment in September, the Mirror reported.

The photo which accompanied the announcement was taken at the Royal Marsden Hospital in Chelsea, west London. It is the same hospital where she was treated, the Mirror reported. It was the first time she said where she had received her cancer treatments, the BBC reported. It was founded as a specialist cancer hospital in 1851.

During the visit, Catherine was asked how she was feeling. She said she was doing well, but said, “Sometimes from the outside we all think you’ve finished treatment and you go back to things. But it’s hard to get back to normal,” the BBC reported.

While undergoing treatment she was rarely seen by the public. Since completing it, she has started appearing more, including Remembrance Sunday and her Christmas carol concert held at Westminster Abbey.

Her father-in-law, King Charles III was also diagnosed with cancer and is undergoing treatment, the palace said in February 2024. The royal family has not said what type of cancer he has. After his health announcement, he took a three-month break from public duties but resumed them in late April, People magazine reported.

The king had his first public appearance of 2025 on Monday when he hosted a Holocaust memorial and education event at Buckingham Palace, People magazine reported.
